Pui Ling Tam

For three decades, Pui Ling has been using education as a tool to realize social justice. Most recently, she directed Peer Resources as its executive director, leading the non-profit in its partnership with San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) to empower youth as agents of change. Pui Ling focused the organization in activating 700 public school-based youth leaders annually and in establishing a pathway to train educators of and for the community. She previously served as Teen Programs Manager at Community Educational Services in Chinatown, as Program Director for Teachers 4 Social Justice, and as Vice-President of the Board at Parents for Public Schools San Francisco. Before moving to the Bay Area, Pui Ling taught high school English in New York and, as a youth, her peers in Hong Kong.

Pui Ling is the proud parent of two intrepid, creative, joyful youth who attend one of SFUSD’s elementary schools. Her youngest likes to use his cooking blowtorch on as many foods as possible, while the elder sees victory looming in her scheme to surpass Pui Ling in height.
