World Arts West helps preserve cultural traditions from across the globe by serving as a hub for the Bay Area’s estimated 450 ethnic dance groups. It offers an acclaimed annual ethnic dance festival each summer, public auditions in November, free events in the City Hall rotunda, plus other services for artists. World Arts West’s festival’s annual audience is one of San Francisco’s most culturally diverse gatherings: 71% of those attending are of African, Asian, Latino, Pacific Islander, or Native American descent or are multi-racial. This grant helps the group to increase audience participation in its Festival and other events.
