The Center for Wellness and Achievement in Education focuses on teaching meditation to students, teachers, and administrators in highly distressed urban schools. Its meditation practice helps participants to manage trauma and it fundamentally changes the learning environment of participating schools. In a randomized trial, teachers in the Center’s meditation training program significantly reduced their fatigue, emotional exhaustion, and perceived stress. This grant from the Fund assists the Center in uniting its various pilots into a coordinated teacher resiliency-training program.
