Creative Growth Art Center works with artists with developmental disabilities, providing space and guidance for them to create art. Participating artists come from Alameda and Contra Costa County, reflect the diversity of the region, and are poor — 95% survive on less than $10,000 per year. The Center’s Outward Bound project focuses on including more of its artists’ neighbors, friends, and family in programming. It offers informal events including film screenings, open houses, and portfolio days at which Creative Growth artists present their work to small groups of visitors. This project also invests in a new system of surveying program audiences.
