Community Financial Resources connects low-income and marginalized people to the consumer-friendly banking tools that build financial skills and assets. Its financial product innovations include a no-fee, prepaid debit card and a “secured” Visa credit card that helps holders improve their credit scores and set aside emergency savings. This grant from the Fund supports Community Financial Resources’ technical assistance work with 13 nonprofits in Alameda County and San Francisco. Included is the funding of eight free tax-filing sites that offer clients the pre-paid debit card or the credit builder card as tools to manage their tax refunds.
