| Description | Berkeley theater company, The Shotgun Players, is well known for its forward-thinking programming and policies. The company owns its own theater, but had recently lost its rehearsal space. Shotgun was able to purchase a replacement space after receiving an anonymous million-dollar gift. This capital grant from the Fund helps them to renovate and furnish the new space. Once ready, four other emerging theater companies will be allowed free access in exchange for volunteer labor. One of the benefitting companies is composed of students from Laney College and another of teenagers from Berkeley High. |
