The Bread Project trains people for entry-level baking industry jobs and operates two social enterprises: a café at the Berkeley Adult School and a wholesale bakery. The Project’s clients are very low-income and face employment barriers including long-term unemployment and histories of incarceration or substance abuse. Through a new partnership with the International Rescue Committee, refugees and asylees are increasingly joining and benefitting from The Bread Project’s program.
