Community Music Center has long had its affordable music instruction limited by a lack of space in its Mission District home. In late 2013, the Center purchased the building next door and embarked on a capital campaign to pay off the loan, renovate, and prepare its larger campus to serve more students—including those on scholarship. The Center’s campaign has two phases: $3 million for pre-development costs and $15 million for paying off the building loan, construction, and increasing the Center’s capacity. This grant from the Fund helps the Community Music Center maintain its fundraising momentum, with payments in years two and three contingent on the campaign meeting fundraising objectives.
