In 2013, the War Memorial Building, which contains the Herbst Theater, closed for two years of seismic retrofitting. City Arts & Lectures found and renovated a replacement space in the larger, out-of-use Nourse Theater. When the Herbst re-opened, it reclaimed its loaned equipment from the Nourse, leading City Arts to launch a campaign to replace the borrowed materials. This modest capital grant helps re-equip the Nourse Theater, which has proven to be an excellent venue for City Arts, Youth Speaks, and other Fund grantees.
