826 Valencia

Program Area(s)
Description

826 Valencia engages high-need young people in building their writing and literacy skills. Looking to expand its services beyond the capacity of its Mission District location, it launched a capital campaign to transform a former Tenderloin liquor store into a new community learning center. An estimated 4,000 children live in the Tenderloin, which serves as a point of entry for many who arrive in the city with limited resources. This grant supports 826 Valencia’s renovation and build out at its new Tenderloin location.
