As economic development activity in San Francisco’s Bayview Hunters Point continues to increase, Young Community Developers (YCD) has become the go-to organization for public agencies and local developers that want residents to benefit from this economic growth. About 1,500 people benefit from the organization’s job-readiness training, placement, and academic support services annually. Through YCD, adults gain skills in fields such as lead abatement; out-of-school youth prepare to take their GED and join the workforce; and middle- and high school-age youth receive academic support and assistance finding summer jobs.
