The greater San Francisco Bay Area is home to hundreds of culturally specific dance companies. For many of them, World Arts West’s San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival stands as the best opportunity to share their art with a broad audience. Due to construction, World Arts West has been unable for the last few years to present its Festival at the Palace of Fine Arts Theater and was limited to using smaller venues. In 2015, the Festival will return to the Palace, where it can more affordably serve larger audiences. World Arts West also presents free monthly performances at City Hall and annual Audition Showcases that cost attendees only $10 for a daylong pass. The Fund provides general operating support so that World Arts West can continue to present rich, cross-cultural dance programming and serve diverse audiences.
