Urban Adamah

Program Area(s)
Description

Berkeley Jewish environmental education center Urban Adamah operates an organic farm, offers a summer camp program, and hosts holiday celebrations. Over the years the center has grown into a sophisticated agricultural site that produces honey, grows botanical herbs for a free medical clinic, and distributes 14,000 pounds of produce and eggs to East Bay residents annually. While serving as a point of connection for the Jewish community, Urban Adamah is also a laboratory for pursuing social justice; free organic produce is distributed at its weekly farmers market and its fellows teach nutrition classes to local residents.
