University of California, Berkeley, Graduate School of Education is redesigning its teacher programs to be both more cost-effective and relevant to Bay Area public schools. It plans to combine its teacher programs into one core program and then shorten the program to 18 months. It will pilot new outreach strategies to encourage a more diverse applicant pool, develop a new teacher-induction program to support teachers through their first two years, and partner with school districts to place its graduates in schools led by principals trained by its leadership program.
