The Kitchen: Slow Down Jew Up
The Kitchen is an independent synagogue encouraging diverse participation in Jewish life and service in the broader community. Participants in this congregation include LGBT Jews, Jewish professionals, educators, young families, and older Jews all looking for creative ways to engage in Jewish rituals and support progressive ideals. Offering a welcoming Sabbath celebration, a religious school for children, and spirited holiday celebrations, the Kitchen has attracted a growing following since its inception in 2011. It presents a calendar of nationally recognized speakers on Jewish social justice, Israel, Jewish ritual, and other topics of interest to Bay Area audiences.
