Through accessible but scholarly study of Torah, Svara welcomes LBGTQ Jews and “all individuals who experience life as an outsider.” It bills itself as a traditionally radical yeshiva—or religious school—created to build the confidence of those who see themselves on the fringes of Jewish life. Among other programs, Svara offers West Coast retreats, with two back-to-back camps scheduled for 2019. The Fund supports the expansion of this outreach programming, engaging LGBTQ Jews in Jewish study and creating a pipeline of new, diverse Jewish educators.
