Studio Grand was founded to create a warm, inviting art space attractive to people of differing backgrounds, income levels, and interests. Studio Grand’s programming encompasses music, dance, literary art, and visual art classes and events. W&EHF’s grant supports free, outdoor participatory workshops and performances at Lake Merritt, which feature Afro-Puerto Rican Bomba dance and percussion, Mexican Son Jarocho music, and Soca dance from Trinidad. Studio Grand makes its classes and performances widely accessible, bringing people from varied backgrounds together and drawing attention to outstanding recent immigrant artists.
