The San Francisco Teacher Residency Program trains individuals who are committed to teaching in San Francisco’s urban public schools, integrating a yearlong in-classroom residency with a teacher-credentialing program. The Program prepares teachers for challenging urban environments by contextualizing learning and boosts teacher retention by providing mentorship during participants’ critical first years. From 2015 to 2020, San Francisco Teacher Residency Program aims to more than double its training capacity to handle 75 residents per year, helping to keep San Francisco public schools staffed with quality teachers.
