Description | San Francisco Mime Troupe has a long history of producing free, political theater in Bay Area parks. It promotes theater as a tool for expression and activism through its distinctive Youth Theater Program. That program’s two free, intensive, multi-week sessions teach students performance skills, build capacity for communication and collaboration, and engender self-confidence. Participants create original works based on topics of their choice. They also view and critique videos of their performances. In 2017, the San Francisco Mime Troupe introduced an optional Friday class for workshop participants and response has been strong. Program students attend an array of San Francisco public high schools, and their coming together across neighborhoods, cultural backgrounds, and school affiliations is compelling. |
