Roses in Concrete
Program Area(s) | |
Description | Roses in Concrete Community School operates as a laboratory school for Oakland Unified School District. A vast majority of its students are African Americans or Latinos, from low-income families, and speak a language other than English at home. Serving as a training ground for the next generation of urban school teachers, Roses in Concrete engages prospective teachers, runs a volunteer program for teacher candidates, and operates an apprenticeship and mentoring program for students in teacher credential programs. In 2017, the school will work to refine its teaching support programs in order to improve the experience of current and prospective teachers and to strengthen the teacher pipeline. |
