| Description | Working with the Oakland Unified School District, Pro Arts’ longest-running education program connects high school students who are interested in careers in the arts with professional artist mentors. Its artists also work with middle and elementary school teachers to help integrate the arts into other subject areas. Filling an otherwise unaddressed niche, it provides Oakland’s transitional kindergarten classrooms with long-term visiting artists as well. School principals praise Pro Arts programs, describing the organization as a true partner and its artists as sensitive to students’ and classroom teachers’ needs. |
