| Description | Prescott Circus Theatre offers a free, fun, rigorous after-school clowning program at eight Oakland Unified School District schools and community centers. It also offers Saturday workshops for advanced students and an intensive five-week summer program. Participating youth have many opportunities to perform at street festivals, parades, and other community events. Some 220 children participate annually. Over time, Prescott Circus Theatre’s curriculum has evolved from including just European forms of clowning, acrobatics, and balancing acts to encompass African-American hambone and circus arts from China and Mongolia. |
