Performing Arts Workshop works with vulnerable youth from low-income families, offering programming in public schools and in after-school programs at transitional housing facilities, juvenile detention centers, and other sites. It provides dance, theater arts, creative writing, and music classes to 5,000 pre-K through high school students each year, strengthening young people’s critical thinking and creative expression skills. Performing Arts Workshop proves most effective when it works with the same young people, year after year, in and out of school. Through on-going collaboration, participants strengthen their concentration, artistic vocabularies, critical abilities, and cultural understanding.
