Description | Ceramic artist Ehren Tool is creating new work honoring local veterans. Beginning in April 2014, the Palo Alto Art Center (Art Center) will invite community members to lend objects, images, and ephemera related to their or their relatives’ military service. Ehren Tool will incorporate these items—as scanned glass decals or objects—into ceramic cups. As he produces the cups, Tool will display them in a growing installation. At the project’s culmination, Tool will redistribute the cups to community members who contributed resource materials. Lead artist Ehren Tool, a U.S. Marine who served in Desert Shield and Desert Storm, creates ceramic objects and sculptures that address the experience of war. The Palo Alto Art Center Foundation works to expand the reach and impact of the Palo Alto Art Center, which was established in 1971 by the City of Palo Alto and serves some 70,000 people annually. |
