OUSD Office of Equity
Program Area(s) | |
Description | In 2010, Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) developed the first Office of African American Male Achievement (AAMA) in the U.S. In 2017, this office expanded to become the Office of Equity in order to broaden its focus to include other marginalized communities. Having developed OUSD’s equity plan, the Office of Equity plans to bring together leaders from across the district to identify and understand where its administrative systems and structures may be creating barriers to effectively serving students from marginalized communities. This support helps provide professional development for the African American Male Achievement educators and support for the implementation of the district’s equity policy. |
