Description | Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) seeks to address its ongoing teacher shortage by partnering with community organizations to develop a youth worker to teacher pipeline. OUSD will pilot this initiative in 2017 with an initial cohort of 8 to 12 participants. Selected youth workers will receive support in applying for and taking the California Basic Educational Skills Test plus a stipend to help offset costs; participate in professional development; and receive counseling on choosing and applying to teacher certification programs. During the summer, participants will observe and co-teach summer school with a master teacher. |
