Opportunity Fund operates California’s largest microlending program. In 2015 it extended $37 million in small business loans to more than 1,500 entrepreneurs. Additionally, its set of matched-savings programs support low-income households’ efforts to save money for emergencies, business development, and education. A recent program evaluation found participants adopted a longer time horizon when thinking about money, experienced a greater sense of security, and developed greater confidence.
