| Description | The Oakland Symphony is committed to serving the people of Oakland. A cornerstone of that effort is their MUSE (Music for Excellence) initiative. Through MUSE, professional musicians mentor more than 1,800 students in 22 schools and after-school programs offer young children piano lessons and older students a chance to play in ensembles. A portion of this grant supports private lessons for promising low-income middle school students to help them prepare for youth orchestra auditions. |
