In 2015, in collaboration with several other foundations, the Fund helped to establish and fund the position of Director of Equity and Strategic Partnerships in the Oakland Office of Equity and Strategic Partnerships. This follow-up grant guarantees the inclusion of the position in the Mayor’s fiscal year 2017 budget. The Director, working closely with the Mayor and the City Manager, is crafting efficient relationships with the private and philanthropic sectors. He is rebuilding Oakland’s low-functioning workforce systems, including reestablishing an effective Workforce Investment Board.
