Description

Oakland Digital Arts and Literacy Center prepares community college students to create social marketing campaigns for local business owners. Its INSPIRE program benefits more than 200 students with instruction in in-demand technical skills plus career planning and networking opportunities. Students participate in a design contest with six winning designs selected for display on billboards throughout Oakland. Ten students then participate in three-month paid internships with Oakland small-business owners. Oakland Digital Arts and Literacy Center also plans to expand its technology platform, which connects underemployed graphic design students with small businesses.
