Description

Designed by a local Shakespeare scholar and an Oakland high school theater teacher, Musical Tradition’s Making Shakespeare Real and Relevant pilot program teaches students Shakespeare’s plays “on their feet.” Students meet actors, designers, and directors who illustrate scenes from plays and talk about the creative choices made in productions. Then, in culminating projects, students design their own productions. Making Shakespeare Real and Relevant’s 2017-18 program will focus on Measure for Measure and a contemporary play that similarly wrestles with themes of feminism and social justice.
