| Description | Taking advantage of two local theaters’ 2016-17 productions of Othello, an Oakland Unified School District drama teacher and a professional dramaturge will bring actors from each cast into classrooms to perform scenes from the play. Following these performances, students will discuss the artistic choices made with directors, designers, and cast members and then devise their own plans for directing Othello. This nine-week pilot will be tested in the fall of 2016 at Edna Brewer Middle School and Oakland Technical High School, with expansion to other OUSD schools possible in future years. |
