Mural Music and Arts Project

Program Area(s)
Description

Developed in response to violence against youth, Mural Music & Arts Project offers year-round creative opportunities to underserved elementary, middle, and high school students. In San Francisco, the group offers a Health Education through Art Program — an after-school arts-based curriculum that teaches youth about personal and community health. Working alongside professional artists and educators, participants create music, theater pieces, and murals while learning about nutrition, environmental justice, drug prevention, and health. Mural Music & Arts Project stands out for the quality of its teaching artists, the rigor of its evaluations, and for its depth of experience working with disadvantaged youth.
