Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area
Program Area(s) | |
Description | The Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights’ Legal Services for Entrepreneurs program provides resources that support business ownership among low-income entrepreneurs, particularly in communities of color. It provides free, high-quality, culturally appropriate legal services in multiple languages. As the dramatic increase in income inequality across the Bay Area forces small-business owners to compete for limited commercial space, the Lawyers’ Committee has responded with a commercial lease legal-assistance program. This program aids small businesses in navigating commercial leases, displacement threats, and other challenges associated with remaining in their current lease arrangements. |
