Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area

Program Area(s)
Description

The Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights’ Legal Services for Entrepreneurs program provides resources that support business ownership among low-income entrepreneurs, particularly in communities of color. It provides free, high-quality, culturally appropriate legal services in multiple languages. As the dramatic increase in income inequality across the Bay Area forces small-business owners to compete for limited commercial space, the Lawyers’ Committee has responded with a commercial lease legal-assistance program. This program aids small businesses in navigating commercial leases, displacement threats, and other challenges associated with remaining in their current lease arrangements.
