Although examples of blatant homophobia have become significantly less common at the majority of Bay Area Jewish organizations, more subtle exclusion continues. Even conscientious organizations often find themselves at a loss when called on to respond appropriately to incidents of bullying and homophobia. Keshet helps by training and supporting educators, rabbis, and leaders to ensure full LGBT inclusion in synagogues, schools, summer camps, youth groups, and other institutions. Since launching its Bay Area office, Keshet has consulted with and trained more than 70 Bay Area organizations, placed volunteers in leadership positions or on boards, and helped to train a new generation of gay and transsexual Jewish leaders.
