Juma Ventures

Program Area(s)
Description

JUMA Ventures’ mission is to break the cycle of poverty by paving the way to work, education, and financial capability for low-income students. In terms of work, its 16 concession businesses employ more than 800 youth at major sports venues in eight cities. JUMA complements this job training with education and career services to help students finish high school and college and develop career goals. Employment and education supports are augmented by a robust program that supplies participating youth with the tools they need to make sound financial decisions. In 2016, 98% of JUMA’s 334 Bay Area youth graduated from high school, 96% enrolled in post-secondary education, and 65% completed their college degrees in six years or less, far outperforming youth from similar socioeconomic backgrounds.
