The Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) fights religious and ethnic intolerance, builds support for Israel, coordinates volunteers, and engages Jews in service and social justice activities. It achieves its goals by building coalitions with the broader community and by encouraging Jews to become civic leaders. Increasingly, JCRC has played an important role in mobilizing the Jewish community to tackle issues of inequality and inhumanity, including poverty, human trafficking, and immigration reform. One key JCRC program is the Jewish Coalition for Literacy, which benefits 1,000 children each year with individualized tutoring in reading.
