| Description | Gritty City Repertory Youth Theatre offers youth of color a demanding pre-professional training program in ensemble-style theater. When mastering a play, participating youth learn multiple roles so that they can contribute both on- and off-stage. Recruited from Oakland public schools, 12 to 18 youth participate each year, meeting each week for six hours. Those who wish to continue with Gritty City after their first year receive stipends to do so. |
