Golden Thread Productions produces plays and performances that offer a nuanced representation of the Middle East—a rare focus for the American stage. In collaboration with The Lark in New York and Silk Road Rising in Chicago, Golden Thread is commissioning new works. One of these plays, the award-winning We Swim, We Talk, We Go to War by Mona Mansour, had its world premiere in 2018 in San Francisco through Golden Thread. This grant supports the company’s efforts to amplify Middle Eastern American voices, counter stereotypes, and enrich the Bay Area’s artistic community.
