| Description | Flyaway Productions creates aerial dance performances that often center on social justice themes. Its summertime GIRLFLY Arts and Activism Apprenticeship program unites 15 low-income teenage girls for physical strengthening, dance, and videography training combined with a community project based on the participants’ self-selected theme. Flyaway also teaches dance at Sunnyside Elementary School, where its KIDFLY program works with children to teach performance skills plus costume, lighting, and set design. Both programs culminate in public performances and increase arts education opportunities for youth. |
