Description | Facing History and Ourselves engages a diverse group of students in examining racism, prejudice, and anti-Semitism with the goal of developing a more humane, informed citizenry. Its Bay Area office provides training, support, materials, and workshops to more than 2,100 teachers who in turn reach 90,000 students. These teachers foster student empathy for and understanding of issues surrounding the Holocaust, the Civil Rights Movement, and other topics of identity and belonging. It also produces well-researched, thoughtful material that resonates with educators. |
