Youth artists will work alongside Mr. Martinez to spread awareness about the project and produce a community design process that invites East Palo Alto residents to contribute ideas for the murals. Scape Martinez is an established graffiti artist and writer whose work has been displayed in museums and galleries regionally, nationally, and internationally. He has published several books about graffiti arts. Founded in 2001, the Mural Music & Arts Project is an arts-based youth development organization aimed at educating, empowering, and inspiring youth through participation in the arts.
