Description

This annual grant honors the legacy of giving from the Fund’s founders Walter & Elise Haas, providing general operating support to Dorothy Day House (DDH), which provides sustenance and a caring presence to those most in need in their Berkeley community. Founded in the spirit of Dorothy Day, a faith-based social change activist who played a major role in the antiwar, women’s rights, civil rights, labor and human services movements of the 1920’s right through the Vietnam Era, DDH’s Breakfast Project serves food to the general homeless community.
