Community Financial Resources

Program Area(s)
Description

Community Financial Resources (CFR) partners with community organizations and free tax-filing sites to connect low-income individuals with consumer-friendly banking tools that build financial skills and assets. Its innovations include a low-interest, secured Visa credit card that’s collateralized by the borrower’s own savings. This financial product helps people improve their credit score and set aside emergency savings. In 2014, 1,200 low-income individuals used CFR’s financial tools as an alternative to check cashers.
