San Francisco has a rich history of fostering one-ring, animal-free circuses that perform free shows in public parks. Circus Bella continues that legacy, presenting ten free shows each summer in partnership with community centers, many of which are located in low-income neighborhoods. Performances incorporate acts performed at African American, Asian, and European circuses. W&EHF’s grant provides Circus Bella with general support for its San Francisco and Alameda county summer programs, helping it to engage thousands at performances and through partnering community organizations.
