With the passing of esteemed Indian choreographer, artistic leader, and guru Pandit Chitresh Das, the Chhandam Chitresh Das Dance Company was confronted with the need for substantial staffing and structural changes. This grant from the Fund helps to support the Company’s review of human resources policies and tuition fees; the hiring a school manager; the promotion of dancers into leadership roles; the launch of a fundraising drive; and the archival documentation of Pandit Das’ work. These efforts will help keep culturally significant Kathak dance instruction and performance accessible in the Bay Area.
