| Description | Offered through the Center for the Art of Translation, Poetry Inside Out provides a rigorous writing and translation program to 3rd through 12th grade students. Its curriculum introduces youth to simple poems by international writers, helping students to work in teams to translate them into compelling English. Teachers praise Poetry Inside Out for teaching students about nuance of language and teamwork. Students whose first language is not English often shine in Poetry Inside Out classes, and lessons are available in multiple languages with the help of translators-in-residence. An estimated 800 Bay Area students will benefit from Poetry Inside Out classes in 2016. |
