| Description | The Center for Responsible Lending works at the local, state, and national levels to stop consumer lending practices that strip wealth from low- and moderate-income households. It is a leader in the effort to curb payday lending, car loan scams, and student loan debt. In 2012, the Center gauged support for imposing a 36% interest rate cap on payday loans and found a wide majority in favor. It will continue to conduct research, develop briefing materials for policymakers, testify at public hearings, and undertake consumer education to build broad public support for reforms.  |
