Center for LGBTQ and Gender Studies in Religion and Ministry

Program Area(s)
Description

The Pacific School of Religion’s Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies hosts roundtables for African American, Asian Pacific Islander, Latino, and transgender students. In 2017, it launched its first Jewish Roundtable, including an international gathering of transgender Jews so popular it had to waitlist prospective attendees. In 2018, the Center will produce a book to help clergy serve the transgender Jewish community and convene a conference of LGBTQ Jewish clergy to connect gay Jewish clergy nationally. This project serves a vastly underrepresented portion of the Jewish community.
