| Description | Cal Performances, based at the University of California, Berkeley, has refocused its education program around the concept of artistic literacy, incorporating professional development for classroom teachers, classroom visits by teaching artists who lead hands-on activities, and live performances. Cal Performances, with support from the Fund, developed and refined this educational programming in Berkeley and Richmond middle schools over 2015-2017. With continued support, it will extend the program’s reach to Oakland public schools, complete a program evaluation, and publish a teachers’ guide. |
